Fences are useful for keeping feral pigs out of land, especially if they are built with the right material. Fences will need to built out of either net wire or diamond mesh to prevent the feral pig from eating them. Also they must be certain height of three feet tall with fence spacing less then 6 inches. These fences must be tightly wound as well as have some sort of fencing buried to keep the fence sturdy.
There are also electric fences that can be used to keep the feral pigs from passing through the fence. In these fences, the space between the wires are more lenient to a distance of 12 inches. The shock should dissuade feral pigs from crossing the fence. It is important to keep the fence clear of any plants, although using herbicides on the fence may be corrosive to the metal. So if herbicides will be used, it is important to not cover any part of the fence with it. |
