- Humans are at risk for hog attacks. Mother sows travelling with a litter of piglets are known to be very aggressive. Feral hogs have developed sharp tusks and will commonly charge anyone that gets too close. Some hogs can weigh in excess of 400 pounds, making any attack lethal.
- There aren't any accurate statistics that estimate the economic cost of the hogs' damage, but in Australia, where hogs are also invasive, the government and agriculture sector losses more than $80 million in damage yearly. With the US having more hogs and more farms, the US most likely spends much more.
- The only real benefit to having hogs around is for hunting. Boar hunting is very popular in the South and hunters used to spread hogs intentionally for this purpose. Today, it is illegal to purposefully introduce hogs to new areas, and hunters that don't experience the environmental repercussions continue to enjoy hunting these invaders.
